How The Devil Is Holding Me Back From Tithing

As I looked at the balance in my atm awhile ago,
The devil said,"Look at the meager balance that's left in your bank account, are you still going to tithe??"

Then suddenly, fears came rushing in like tsunami. Shaking my every thought here and there....I paused for awhile and say," oh nooooo! Am i still going to tithe??"

Well, the devil almost convinced me not to tithe right there because He had effortlessly put fears in my heart for a little while. Suddenly, I've asked myself, what do I need? What do I want?? Is everything really about money that I can't give it away like that?
Why is the devil making me so hard to give that 10% of my salary away to God??

Mmmmmm... There must be something special in this somewhere.

But hey!

God is leading me the way. AND He's gona change the way I deal with money. Aftreall, having money is not the root of all evil. It's loving it and become slave with it where all the problems lie.

Now,
I say," Yessssssss!!!!
I'm still going to tithe because God now is my financial partner! I'm giving back what's due to Him Not because He needs it BUT because I need it!

Excites me. :)

To be con't after this coming Sunday's service. Will update you...

  1. NO ONE, absolutely NO ONE pays the Biblical tithe today.

Leviticus 27:30-33, Numbers 18: The First Tithe - a tenth of crops and animals and commanded to take the tithe to the Levites.

Deuteronomy 14:22-27: The Second Tithe aka The Festival Tithe - a tenth of crops, plus add to that the firstborn animals, and take for the yearly feast.

Deuteronomy 14:28-29: The Third Tithe aka The Three-Year Tithe aka The Poor Tithe - a tenth of crops, kept at home, and invite the Levites, widows, orphans, stranger to eat.

Now, tell me. Which of the above three tithes commanded by God does anyone follow today?

The ONLY people in the Old Testament that were commanded to tithe were those who INHERITED THE PROMISED LAND WITH EVERYTHING ON IT. They got the land, house, animals, crops, etc. ALL FREE AND CLEAR. No mortgage payment or rent to pay. And THEY were commanded to tithe on the crops and animals and take it to the Levites who INHERITED the tithe INSTEAD OF the promised land with everything on it. No one else tithed. Wage earners did not tithe. Jesus didn’t tithe. Paul didn’t tithe. Peter didn’t tithe.

The New Testament teaches generous, sacrificial giving, from the heart, according to our means. For some, $1 might be a sacrifice, while for others, even giving 50% of their income might not induce a sacrifice. In the Old Testament, ONLY the farmers tithed, and it was equal percentage (a tenth). The New Testament teaches the principle of equal sacrifice instead of equal percentage. Equal sacrifice is much harder to achieve, if not impossible, than giving ten percent.

  2. Thanks for dropping by Gary...I don't know. I feel like giving back more to the Lord and I know I'm on my way. Im gona give because I want to honor Him, give thanks to Him for what He has done to me. I'm not perfect. there will be arguing thoughts somewhere in between which I dont want to be stressed about.
As for now, I'm making that first step. Someday, I will be giving back to God more than 10% out of the goodness of my heart. ... perhaps its not gona happen soon but it will. I know it will.

  3. You can't out give God. But don't confuse giving with the Biblical tithe. The Biblical tithe was a payment, like a tax. Paying the Biblical tithe didn't come from the heart. It was law. Giving from the heart is what God wants from us today.
